Building Without Disruption: What One Construction Video Reveals About Working in Childcare Settings
When we think about what makes a great early learning centre, the focus is usually on what’s inside the fence—children learning, educators leading, spaces that feel safe and alive. But sometimes, growth means building more space around that. That’s what happened at Play CC&K in Geelong. And that’s where we stepped in.
Commissioned by educational construction specialists FOURSITE, this video documented a full-scale extension built while the childcare centre stayed open. On paper, it’s a construction story. In practice, it’s a lesson in respect.
Why This Matters to Centre Operators
Most childcare leaders will, at some point, face an expansion, upgrade, or relocation. The big question isn’t just “Can we fund it?” It’s “Can we do it without chaos?”
The team at FOURSITE proved it’s possible- and this video shows how. With planning, calm communication, and real respect for the rhythms of a working centre, they delivered a major build while keeping the day-to-day running smoothly.
Educators weren’t sidelined. Nap times were protected. Noise was managed. The site stayed a learning space, not just a building site.
Our Role: Documenting Quiet Success
Our job at EEVA was to tell that story, without disrupting it. We filmed across multiple stages, from demolition to completion, always working within the boundaries of an active childcare environment.
That meant child-safe protocols, minimal gear, no assumptions. More importantly, it meant earning the trust of the educators before we even picked up a camera.
Voices That Matter Most
One of the strongest elements in this project is the centre director’s voice. Her testimonial isn’t polished—it’s honest. She talks about initial worries, and how those shifted to appreciation for how the project was handled.
Her words carry weight. Not because they sell a service, but because they reflect a real experience that others in the sector can relate to.
A Model That Goes Beyond Construction
While this was a building video, it speaks to a broader idea: how external providers—builders, consultants, creatives—should approach childcare environments.
The principles are simple:
-
Respect the space.
-
Understand the context.
-
Work with the rhythms, not against them.
-
Communicate clearly.
For EEVA Clients, This Is Part of the Bigger Picture
Even if you’re not building anything soon, this kind of work reflects how we operate.
We don’t just make videos for you—we also collaborate with your wider network. Whether it’s showcasing a new space, telling a partner’s story, or supporting your growth through strategic content, we show up quietly, work thoughtfully, and keep the focus where it belongs: on the people who make your service work.
Final Word
This project delivered results for FOURSITE. But it also gave future centre directors something valuable: proof that big change doesn’t have to mean big disruption.
If you’re about to take on a project—physical, strategic, or story-driven—we’d be glad to help share it with care.
Let’s build something that lasts.
